Becker Goes Carbon Neutral with Electric Vehicles

Back to blog

Becker is proud to announce that all company cars have now been replaced with electric vehicles (EVs). This change reflects our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, improving sustainability, and supporting a cleaner future for our communities.

Switching to EVs is part of a wider strategy to become a more environmentally responsible organisation. By reducing our reliance on traditional combustion vehicles, we aim to improve environmental performance while supporting long-term, sustainable growth.

Electric vehicles produce zero exhaust emissions, helping to cut harmful air pollution and improve air quality in towns and cities. While some emissions are generated when charging from the grid, EVs remain a far cleaner alternative to petrol or diesel cars.

Our investment in electric vehicles also demonstrates our long-term focus on innovation and responsibility. We are committed to making changes that benefit both our employees and the wider environment, ensuring Becker plays a role in creating a sustainable future.

SM3 Installation in Residential Nursing Home

Back to blog

Becker recently completed an installation at a residential nursing home, where our SM3 movable wall system was used to divide the communal area.

The project required a practical solution that could provide flexibility, allowing the space to be opened up for group activities or divided for smaller gatherings. By installing the SM3, staff can now adapt the environment quickly to suit different needs.

Functionality was a key requirement. The system ensures that residents and staff benefit from improved acoustic control when the room is divided. This makes it easier to hold multiple activities without noise carrying between spaces.

Another advantage of the SM3 system is its ease of use. Staff can operate the movable wall with minimal effort, quickly changing the layout of the space without disruption. When the wall isn’t needed, the panels can be stacked to one side, restoring the room to its full size.

This demonstrates how Becker’s movable walls are not limited to offices or conference venues. They’re also ideal for care facilities and nursing homes, they make adaptable spaces that support daily life.

The success of this project highlights the versatility of the SM3 system, offering both practicality and design suited to sensitive residential environments.

Domestic Installation of Monoglass Partitions

Back to blog

Becker’s Monoglass partitions are increasingly chosen for domestic projects as well as commercial settings. This installation involved two L35-F Monoglass walls in a private home in Hertfordshire.

The partitions created a flexible division while still allowing natural light to flow through both spaces. This approach ensured privacy when needed but maintained the open, bright character of the home.

Each panel was fitted with top, bottom, and vertical seals, which provided effective thermal insulation and an acoustic barrier between rooms. These seals improved comfort, reduced sound transfer, and supported energy efficiency within the property.

When the partitions are not required, the panels can be removed quickly and stored, leaving the space fully open. This flexibility makes Monoglass an ideal solution for households that value adaptable layouts and efficient use of living space.

By combining practicality with modern design, Monoglass partitions demonstrate how domestic properties can benefit from innovations traditionally associated with large-scale commercial environments.

Monoplan System Achieves Technical Breakthrough

Back to blog

Becker is pleased to announce a major technical development for the Monoplan Movable Wall System. This innovation allows for top-hanging situations where, due to structural limits, only floor support was possible before.

In one recent example, an opening 9,600mm wide was fitted with eight panels, each weighing 80kg. The overhead structure supported the full wall with a total weight of 640kg. This allows for safe movement from closed to open positions without the need for a floor track.

This new solution (Patent Pending) is designed to be completely fail-safe, reducing the risk of operational error and ensuring long-term reliability.

Monoplan Vision for Enhanced Partition Solutions

Back to blog

The Monoplan Vision is the latest addition to our Monoplan movable wall range. It’s specifically designed to bring both practicality and elegance to modern spaces. This system combines the acoustic benefits of operable top and bottom seals with vertical male and female edge profiles, ensuring excellent sound insulation while maintaining a sleek appearance.

What sets the Monoplan Vision apart is its emphasis on light and transparency. This is achieved by incorporating as much glass area as possible with minimal sight lines. The system creates an open, contemporary feel without compromising on performance. In recent on-site testing, it achieved an impressive 41dB reduction in room-to-room sound transfer. This result makes it an effective choice for offices, conference rooms, and educational spaces.

Like the standard Monoplan, the Vision system is top-hung, eliminating the need for a floor track and allowing panels to be parked in a variety of configurations. This flexibility makes it an adaptable solution for environments where both privacy and openness are required. Whether creating quiet meeting areas or dividing larger spaces, the Monoplan Vision provides a functional yet stylish partitioning option.

Monoplan Movable Wall Installation at The Auction House

Back to blog

Our installation of a Monoplan Movable Wall at The Auction House Banqueting and Conference, provided our client with a practical solution. It allowed them to acoustically divide their main suite and host simultaneous events as needed.

During the initial survey, it was found that the roof structure could not provide sufficient support for a top-hung system. To overcome this, additional steelwork was considered but proved to be costly and impractical. Instead, the solution was to secure the head track to plywood pattresses installed above the plasterboard ceiling.

Lightweight metal framing provided lateral restraint at the head, with the load-bearing floor track fixed directly to the concrete deck. The track was raised to ensure a flush finish with the top of the carpet, creating a seamless look.

When the venue requires a single large open space, the wall panels can be easily moved and parked discreetly in a far corner of the function suite. This flexibility allows The Auction House to adapt quickly to different event requirements with our Monoplan Movable Wall.

Monoglass Freestyle Added to the Monoglass Range

Back to blog

In response to increased demand for our Monoglass range, we have introduced a new addition: the Monoglass Freestyle. This system has been developed to provide stable glass partitioning without the need for mechanical fixings into surrounding surfaces.

The Freestyle option addresses the requirement for a flexible and rapid solution to office layouts and room division. Installation is carried out cleanly and efficiently, avoiding the disruption often associated with conventional partition work.

Monoglass Freestyle panels are available in three widths — 506mm, 806mm, and 1206mm — with an 806mm sliding door panel available as an option. Each panel has a height of 2030mm, including adjustable floor mounts.
